Why are Polyphenols important for Health?
Previously, I introduced Polyphenols as a part of the human diet, unless a person is a pure carnivore. Population-based studies over the past fifty years have concluded the importance of including adequate fruits and vegetables in our human diet1.
Fruit and vegetable consumption is inversely associated with mortality (death), morbidity (ability to move), and incidences of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases1.
Further scientific investigations discovered that the polyphenols in fruits and vegetables contribute to their health benefiting properties2.
I hope you are convinced about the importance of polyphenols to our health. Your next question should be, how much polyphenol to consume is adequate for the reported health benefits?
