Cardiovascular Diseases in Singapore Parents
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is a class of diseases involving the heart or blood vessels. Two of the more common CVDs are:
CVD is the leading cause of death worldwide, resulting in 16.7 millions deaths or 32.7% of total deaths in 20161. A worrying upward trend of CVD death has been observed since 19901. By 2030, it is projected that 23.6 millions people will die from CVD worldwide1.
Singapore is no exception to this worldwide phenomenon. CVD has been the top Singapore’s disease burden2. In 2015, CVD accounted for nearly 30% of all deaths in Singapore, which equates to 16 CVD deaths per day2.
